Welcome to The Bear Café in Woodstock, NY! Eric Mann, chef-proprietor of the Bear Café in Woodstock, New York, served his apprenticeship in the French kitchens of Manhattan for eleven years, enhancing his classical French skills with influences from all over the world. The Bear Café has its roots in a slice of US music history as it was established in 1971 by Albert Grossman, music mogul and manager to artists including Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band and Peter, Paul & Mary, and Todd Rundgren. Eric Mann reopened the venue in 1988 with Peter Cantine and has earned a loyal clientele across the Catskills and Hudson Valley both here and at the Commune Saloon. Music aficionados can enjoy the cuisine streamside or fireside while taking in the decor courtesy of legendary photographer Elliot Landy, chronicler of Woodstock and rock musicians, whose photos capture a seminal era in rock history. He was the official photographer of the 1969 Woodstock Festival and his work has featured on magazine covers and classic album sleeves. Bon appétit Woodstock!
